HBU聽College聽of Business namesake,聽Dr.聽Archie W. Dunham, was the speaker for the聽Center for Christianity in Business聽Networking Luncheon聽at HBU on January 26. The chairman emeritus of Chesapeake Energy and retired chairman of ConocoPhillips聽was聽interviewed by Robert B. Sloan, HBU president.
Throughout his life, in聽both family and work life, Dunham has held onto several main tenets: honesty, integrity, perseverance and wisdom. 鈥淚 talk to my grandkids a lot about the importance of integrity,鈥 he said. 鈥淚n life, if you鈥檙e not a person of integrity, it鈥檚 just a matter of time until you have an unhappy situation.聽Perseverance: whether it鈥檚 in the job or in prayer 鈥 keep praying, keep working hard and keep pursuing your dream.鈥
Dr.聽Dunham said his two favorite Bible books are Proverbs and James. He made a life habit of reading a chapter in Proverbs each morning. His favorite verse is James 1:19: 鈥淓veryone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.鈥
